Strategies for Specific Learning Disorders

We can support students with a range of strategies that will assist them in engaging with mainstream education.

We will work with them as they learn to apply the strategy, and then provide ideas about how they could apply this at school.

Written Expression

We can provide support for improving written expression for any student in Years 7-12, not just in English but in any subject which requires extended writing.

This can include support at the sentence, paragraph or whole text level.

OLNA Achievement

If you or your child are still working towards OLNA Achievement in Reading or Writing, we can provide supported instruction for both of these tests, including interpreting questions, structuring responses, understanding how the test is marked and reviewing sample responses.

ATAR/General English
Course Completion

We are able to provide subject specific support with ATAR English or General English courses.

This support will focus on the content being covered in that particular course, as well as including some general support in written expression.

How is this experience different to other tutoring?

By bringing our learning outside, into the natural world, we not only experience all the benefits of being out in the fresh air with nature, but we also provide room for children to move as they learn. Our tutoring sessions don't look like a standard classroom literacy session, and will work with the needs of the student to provide maximum engagement and, hopefully, enjoyment too.

While some written work will occur sitting down, if the student prefers to investigate the paddock, climb the stepping logs or just run or walk around the space as we work together, they will be encouraged to do so.

Please note that Tutoring Under The Trees sessions do not include direct interaction with the horses. If the horses or chickens choose to interact, and the student feels comfortable, they are welcome to, however it is not the focus of the sessions.
